    Assuming x is real...

    54x^3 = 16

    x^3 = \frac{16}{54}

    x^3 = \frac{8}{27}

    x = \sqrt[3]{\frac{8}{27}}

    x = \frac{\sqrt[3]{8}}{\sqrt[3]{27}}

    x = \frac{2}{3}.

    Solve for x^3 and then take the cube root of both sides.

    54x^3-16=0\implies x^3=\frac{16}{54}=\frac{8}{27}

    Thus, x=\sqrt[3]{\frac{8}{27}}=\ldots.

    Can you simplify this result?
