# Math Help - A couple random algebra problems I'm having trouble with

1. ## A couple random algebra problems I'm having trouble with

3 problems I can't seem to solve for some reason. 2 of them seem very simple but I'm screwing something up.

Hopefully the .doc files comes through, I can't seem to copy and paste them without the formatting getting messed up.

Thanks for the help, these might be the difference of a whole letter grade.

What do you mean by this?

Well the first term 1 over x-3
That would be 1 over 0.

What values are you trying to plug in? Are you asked to evaluate the function at a specific point(s)? If so then there is more to this problem beyond simplification...

Well this one gives 4 possible answers: 3, 2,4 or no solution.

I got by simplifying it, but then when I plug 3 back in it doesn't work out.

Very sneaky.

Thanks again.

I'll probably have a couple more to post, but I'll make a new thread if I can't solve them.
