# Math Help - miles = ? feet

1. ## miles = ? feet

Farmer Dell had farmland that measured 1.5 miles by 2.8 miles. He wanted to plant four different crops in equally sized areas. Find the size, in square feet, of each section so Farmer Dell can get his crops planted and watch them sprout. Round your answer to the nearest hundreds.

Area of land = 1.5m*2.8m = 4.2m^2.

Now divide this into 4 equal parts.

4.2/4 = 1.05m^2

3. 1 mile = 5280 feet

so is the final answer (a) or (b), the answer key says a, but I think it should be (b), I am confused.

a. 1.05*5280=5544=5500 ft^2

b. 1.05*5280^2=29272320=29272300 ft^2

$1m = 5280ft$

$\implies 1m^2 = (5280)^2 ft^2$

$1.05m^2 \cdot \frac{(5280)^2 ft^2}{1m^2} = 1.05\cdot (5280)^2 ft^2.$

...Unless I am mistaken?
