Thread: quick question factoring quad trinomials.

Is (x+6)(x+2) the same thing as (x+2)(x+6) ?

I don't think it matters; you should get the same answer when worked out. It's just annoying when you get it one way and the answer in the book has it done the opposite.

Those two binomials are simply factors and multiplication is commutative.

ab = ba

(x + 6)(x + 2) = (x + 2)(x + 6)
