1. ## Worded length problem

A board is 24 ft. long and is cut into two parts. If one piece is twice the length of the other, find the length of both pieces.
smaller length = ? feet
larger length = ? feet

2. Think of it like this. Pretend the smaller length board is x ft long. Then the other side is 2x, right? So

[Math]x+2x=24[/tex]

Solve for x and you have the length of the smaller side.

Spoiler:
$x=8$
