    can you help me solve the inequality using a sign chart?

    (X-5)(x+2)< 0

    You can evaluate both cases:

    where (x-5) is negative and (x+2) is positive,

    and

    where (x-5) is positive and (x+2) is negative.

    Then x will be in the intersection of the two domains.
