    --- need help reviewing factoring

    9b^2+24b+16 i got (3b+4) ( 3b+4) right?

---but then how do you do this I gues factor by grouping I started but it looks weird.

    4x^6+4x^5-8x^4+8x^3

    ---another
    (x^2+x+6)(x-6)

    I got x^5-6x^2-36 wrong?

    Hello, rj2001!

    9b + 24b + 16
    . . I got: .(3b + 4)(3b + 4), right? . Right!

But then how do you do this?
    I guess factor by grouping . . . . Yes!
    . . 4x^6 + 4x^5 - 8x^4 + 8x^3
    First take out the common factor: .4x(x + x - 2x + 2)

    Factor by grouping: .4x[x(x + 1) - 2(x + 1)]

    Take out the common factor: .4x(x + 1)(x - 2)

    (x + x + 6)(x - 6)

    What were the instructions?
It's already factored; it can't be factored any further.

Are they asking us to multiply?
If so, you'd better review Multiplication of Polynomials.

    Hello,

you multiply 2 sums by multiplying every summand of the first sum by every summand of the second sum:

    (x + x + 6)(x - 6) =

    x + x + 6x -6x - 6x - 36 =

    collect like terms:

    x - 5x - 36
