function equation help, find x, given y

    The function
    C(t)=0.02(t-1948)^2+5sin(5.5t)+315
models the rise in CO2 levels

when the earth reaches the critical concentration (C) of 450ppm, what year will it be?

need to know the steps, not just answer

this is a mixed trig/algebraic function. you're not going to be able to find the solution using elementary algebraic methods.

technology is required to find the solution(s) ... i.e. graph it in a calculator.

btw ... did someone else come up with this function?
