i have this equation

500x^2-250x-30=0

i keep getting an imaginary number when i try to work this out.

Should i use the negative on -250 when i am squaring it? Could some one take me through how to work this out using the quadratic forumula.

Simplify first; divide by 10:
50x^2 - 25x - 3 = 0
