Quadratic help
i have this equation

500x^2-250x-30=0

i keep getting an imaginary number when i try to work this out.

Should i use the negative on -250 when i am squaring it? Could some one take me through how to work this out using the quadratic forumula.

$(-250)^2 = 62500$

$x = \frac{250\pm\sqrt{62500-(4\times 500\times -30)}}{2\times 500}$

Simplify first; divide by 10:
50x^2 - 25x - 3 = 0
