1. ## Rational equation

Hi again. I have this problem

3x/(6x-4) + 4/x =1/(3x-2)

Thanks for any help!!!

2. Multiply everything by x(6x-4)

3. ## Re:

The answer is x=-8 hold on as I am getting ready to post the solution...

I got that from the solutions manual, but how do I multiply everything by x(6x-4). What cancels? etc.

Sorry it took so long. I am trying to do two things at one: Solve Math and read about the colonization of Indonesia...

I'm doing three things. Helping out here, studying for chem, and doing math homework...i'm mostly doing math though

9. ## Re:

10. I had spent an hour trying to figure that one out. I was wondering. I mirrored your work to another problem that I am doing and it's not working out. So I was wondering if you or someone could help me out one more time with these rational equations.

The equation is

4x/(x-1) +4(x+1)= x+7/(x^2-1)

I ended up using the quadratic forumula and keep comming up with -7 + - sqrt(176)/8 , which isn't one of the solutions acccording to the book.

Thanks for any further help!!!

RE:

Is this supposed to be 4(x+1) or 4/(x+1)?

sorry about that.. I meant 4/(x+1)

This was sooo helpful! Thank you. I was wondering though, why you factored out a (X-1) on both sides and not a (x+2). Thanks again!
