I somehow feel these are related...

Hooke's Law for elastic spring states that the distance of a spring stretches is directly proportional to the force applied. If a force of 140 newtons stretch a spring 5 cm, how much will a force of 300 newtons stretch the spring?

compared to this problem....

The weight of an object on Earth is directly proportional to the weight of that same object on the moon. A 200-lb astronaut would weigh 32-lb on the moon. How much would a 50-lb dog weigh on the moon?

Am I right? If so, is there a certain equation..or is it just the same way you set them up?

Its Unitary method:

$\displaystyle 140 Newtons \rightarrow 5 cm$

$\displaystyle 1 Newton \rightarrow \frac{5}{140} cms$

$\displaystyle 300 Newtons \rightarrow \frac{5}{140} \times 300 = 10.71 cms$
