Pythagorean theorem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

if hypotenuse(c) = 5 and the other sides are (a and b) x, then by pythagorean theorem:

$5^2 = x^{2} +x^{2}$

or,

$25 = 2x^{2}$

Can you find x now?

3. Havent taken math in a long time not really.

$2x^2 = 25$

so, $x^2 = \frac{25}{2}$

therefore, takeing square root on both sides, you have:

$x = \frac{5}{\sqrt 2}$

5. ok cool thanks man
