Thread: Calculating percentage of exponents.

Trying to figure out some astronomy. Please let me know if I am doing this correctly.

I want to find 95% of 1.98 x 10^30.

I divided 1.98 x 10^30 by 100 to get 1.98 x 10^28. Then multiplied 1.98 x 10^28 by 95 to get 1.88 x 10^30. So I have 1.88 x 10^30 as 95% of 1.98 x 10^30. Is that the way you do it? thanks.
