Six times a positive number when added to the square of a number will produce 16. What is the number? I have no answer key...sorry.

RonL. If you plug 8 into the equation x(6+x) = 16....it does not equal 16. I get 8(6+8) = 16 (but that does not equal??) Have I lost the plot?
