    2 airplanes with different speeds

    2 planes leave an airport at the same time in opposite directions. One plane is slower by 150 mph. After 3 hours they are 2250 miles apart. What are their speeds?
    x= plane 1
    x-150=plane 2
    time= 3 hrs
    distance =2250 miles
    rate of x=450
    [3(x-150)] + 3x=2250

    let v = speed of the faster plane

    (v)(3) + (v-150)(3) = 2250

    solve for v
