# Gaussian Elimination 3 by 3 Matrix

Gaussian Elimination 3 by 3 Matrix
2x + 7y + 3z = 1
4y + bz = (a^2)
8y + az = 3b + 1

Where a and b are unknown. Find a and b.

I'm stuck after few step and i cant solve this question. After 2 times row 2 minus row 3.

This makes no sense at all- there is no reason why a and b cannot be any numbers. Is it possible that the question asks for values of a and b so that there is not a unique solution to this system?

That why i cant solve for this question, im heard from my friend and he said that row 3 can be assume as 0. But he doesnt know to do so.
