Hi guys

I haven't done maths in years and am doing a computer programming course. I can't remember how to simplify the following equation:

(2^(k+1)+2^k) / (2^(2k+1))

I can't remember the rules regarding fractions and power. Could someone please help me out?

I'd appreciate any guidance.

$\frac{2^{k+1}+ 2^k}{2^{2k+1}}= \frac{(2)2^k+ 2^k}{(2)(2^k)^2}$
$= \frac{2^k(2+1)}{2^k(2^k)(2)}= \frac{3}{(2)(2^k)}$
