okay, so you know the first day she did half the hike. so that is 15 miles.. the next 2 days were both 25%.. that means that on the second and third day, she split 15 miles since they are both 25%. so 7.5 miles was hiked on the third day.. does that make sense?

1st day: 50% * 30 = 15, so 30-15 = 15 left.
2nd day: 25% of distance that REMAINED: .25 * 15 = ?
Subtract the distance hiked on days 1 and 2 from total (30) to find distance hiked the 3rd day.
