ii) John sold the laptop, which costs 80, at a profit of 45%.
Find the selling price John sold the laptop.
iii) John sold the mobile phone, which costs 40 for 26.40
Express the profit which John made on the ipod as a percentage of the price he paid for it.

i) 161.772
ii)116
iii) 55.6%

2. Hey,

1) As he made a 22% profit, the total amount he sold them for was 122%.

122%=1.22

Now if you let the price he bought the items for be x:

$x\times1.22=207.4$
How would you rearrange this formula to find x?

2) You are correct as the profit $= 1.45\times80$

3) Using the updated answer for a, have another attempt at c. I'll review your answer afterwards

3. Ah I see what I did, I followed along with my new answer for a , 170,
and did this:
116 + 26.40 = 142.2,
207.4 - 142.4 = 65
170 - (80 + 40) = 50
65 - 50 = 15, 15/50 = 30%
Is this right?

4. Looks right to me
