    Distance formula:d=r(t)

    solve the equation when
    r=35 mi/h
    t=2 h

    Area of a rectangle:A=l(w)

    solve the equation when
    l=16mm
    w=24mm

    In both of these you replace the variable by the given value in the relevant
    formula, and evaluate what you have. So:

    d = r t

    r=35 miles per hour, t = 2 hours, so

    d = 35 x 2 = 70 miles

    A = l w

    l = 16 mm, and w= 24 mm, so

    A = 16 x 24 = 384 square mm.
