    Identify the measure of tendency and explain why it is the best.

    the number of DVD's owned by each student in this class.

    Again your question is to cryptic for us to be able to help without a lot
    of guess work.

    Presumably you are expected to gather data on DVD ownership from your
    class, and give a measure of the central tendency.

    There are a number of these, including the arithmetic mean, the mode, and
    the median. Choose the one you like.
