    What do you have to do with the problem, solve it, find the points where they intersect?

    Hi gmhill33,

    Get your study guide or textbook and work a bunch of these type equations. That's the only way you will learn how to do them. Practice, practice, practice.

    These two equations have the variable on both sides of the equal sign. You need to get them to one side.

    [1] 5x = 2x + 6

    Subtract 2x from each side.

    3x = 6

    Divide by 3

    x = 2

    [2] 3x + 8 = 5x

    Subtract 3x from both sides.

    You can finish up.
