Math Help - word problem

    Exclamation word problem

    The perimeter of a soccer field is 340m. the length exceeds the width by 50m find the length and the width...

    well I got..

    2L + 2W = 340
    L = 50W

    but I keep getting the wrong answer.
    any help would be appreciated..

    Hi onymousillusion,

    write the length as W+50

    Perimeter=2(W+50)+2W=340

    Solve for W.
