    Help with rem,

Hi all first post but need a little homework help.

A definition of rem. would be great.

    Even better an answer to..

    25+4=29 rem ????

    Many thanks

At first I thought "rem" was "remainder but only division problems have remainders. Addition, subtraction, and multiplication of integers always give an integer: 25+ 4= 29 and there is nothing more to be said.

Division of integers does NOT necessarily give an integer so you could say 29 \div 4= 6 with remainder 1 because 4*6= 24.

Is it possible that you have mistaken \div for +?
