    Angry Need help with my TI-83, cannot finish studying, help?

    Hey everyone, someone please dive in here and help me. I have tried for over an hour now to figure out how to enter an index over 3 into my radical problems. For instance, how do I enter this into my TI-83? I have a test monday, I am trying to study and I am stuck on this, driving me nutz. I know she went over it in class, I dont remember how to enter it.

    Okay, how do I enter that, the "5" I cannot for the life of me remember how to do it, and Im not gettng anywhere online. All the google is saying, is to Hit Math, then number 5 for the x index, but it is not taking my 5 ? help please, Im so behind now

    your almost home dry using ur example 5th root of 32 follow this

    1) press number 5
    2) press math
    3) select option 5 ^x\sqrt() by pressing number 5

    Should now look like 5^x\sqrt()

    4)Now put in 32 to get 5^x\sqrt(32)
    5)press enter
    6)ans=2

    Hi mariamichelle9,

    You can also use rational exponents and it will be a little quicker.

    \sqrt[5]{-32}=(-32)^{\frac{1}{5}}

    So, on your TI-83, simply do this:

    (-32)^(1/5)

    Enter

    Result is -2

    Be sure to group the exponent.
