# Thread: math equation

1. ## math equation

M equals males, F females, x is the number of students. estimate how many boys and girls you will have in any given amount of students. For example, if you have 500 students appears, use this formula to estimate the males and females.

500= .70M = .30f, solve for F?

The information you gave does not make sense.

I'm not sure what it is you need except to find out how many females are in the class.

Are you saying that 30 percent of all the students in the class are female? Help us help you.

3. ## equation help

Sorry for the confussion.
Yes you are right I'm trying to find out how many females are there.
so if there is a total of 500 students and 70% of them are male and 30% is female so what is the total amount of female?
I think I have an idea but not sure hoe to write it out in an equation to come up with the right answer.

The equation would be:

(# of females) = 30% * (# of students)
f = .30*s = .30*(500) = 150

Of the 500 students, 150 are female.
