    Factorising

    Hello,

I'm not quite sure if im doing this right:

    Is:

    4x+20:
    4(-5 + x)
    factorized?

    and also for:

    2y+16

    2(8 + y)

    thanks

    4x + 20 = 4\left(\frac{4x}{4} + \frac{20}{4}\right) = 4(x + 5)

    And:

    2y + 16 = 2\left(\frac{2y}{2} + \frac{16}{2}\right) = 2(y + 8)

There should not be a "-" before the 5.

    and also for:

    2y+16

    2(8 + y)

Correct- although there is no reason in either this one or the first problem to reverse the order ("8+ y" instead of "y+ 8"), that's not a mathematical difference.
