(1/2)x^5/2 + (1/2)x^-1/2 = x^4/2

[(x^3)+1]² = (x^5)+1

[t^3]² = t^5

these correct?

Hello, maybnxtseasn!

I hope this is a True/False quiz . . . and not your work!

$(1)\;\tfrac{1}{2}x^{\frac{5}{2}} + \tfrac{1}{2}x^{-\frac{1}{2}} \:=\: x^{\frac{4}{2}}$

$(2)\; [(x^3)+1]^2 \:=\: x^5+1$

$(3)\;[t^3]^2 \:=\: t^5$

All of them are wrong . . .

See if these help at all:

1. $a^{x}*a^{y}=a^{x+y}$

2. $(x+y)^{2}=x^{2}+2xy+y^{2}$

3. $(a^{x})^{y}=a^{xy}$

What's the question?

None of these equations are true in general, but all of them have a solution.

Rule #1 should be $a^x \cdot a^y = a^{x+y}$ .
