    adding and subtracting exponents

    (1/2)x^5/2 + (1/2)x^-1/2 = x^4/2

    [(x^3)+1] = (x^5)+1

    [t^3] = t^5

    these correct?

    Hello, maybnxtseasn!

    I hope this is a True/False quiz . . . and not your work!

    (1)\;\tfrac{1}{2}x^{\frac{5}{2}} +  \tfrac{1}{2}x^{-\frac{1}{2}} \:=\: x^{\frac{4}{2}}

    (2)\; [(x^3)+1]^2  \:=\: x^5+1

    (3)\;[t^3]^2 \:=\: t^5

    All of them are wrong . . .

    See if these help at all:

    1. a^{x}*a^{y}=a^{x+y}

    2. (x+y)^{2}=x^{2}+2xy+y^{2}

    3. (a^{x})^{y}=a^{xy}

    What's the question?

    None of these equations are true in general, but all of them have a solution.

    @xfriendsonfirex:

    Rule #1 should be a^x \cdot a^y = a^{x+y}.
