    calculating percentages

    How do I figure the percentage between 522 and 549? I know the difference is 27, but what is the percentage between 522 and 549? In other words, if I made 522 dollars one week, then 549 the next week, what is the percentage difference, or increase I guess, that I made?

    calculate the difference:

    549-522=27

    divide by original value:
    \frac{27}{522}=5.17(10)^{-2}

    multiply by 100.

    5.17(10)^{-2}(100)=5.17<br />

    5.17%
