Investment in accounts
Franny invested in two accounts. The first account had a gain of 3% for the year. Unfortunately, Franny invested 10,000 more in the second account that lost 4% on the year. If Franny showed a loss of \$454 for the two accounts, how much did she invest in each account?

I need some help setting it up any ideas?

She invested 10,000 more in the second account $(B)$ that lost 4% for the year.
If Franny showed a loss of \$454 for the two accounts,
how much did she invest in each account?

Let $x$ = amunt invested in account $A.$
Let $x + 10,000$ amount invested in account $B.$

She gained: . $0.03x$ dollars in account $A.$.

She lost: . $0.04(x +10,000)$ dollars in account $B.$

Together, she had a net loss of \$454:

. . . . $0.03x - 0.04(x+10,000) \;=\;-454$

I assume you can finish it . . .
