thats what i did and i got 8x+.5y and apparently i was told that it was wrong, so i'm really confused over it
I also get that $\displaystyle \frac{(5x+2y)+( 11x-y)}{2} = \frac{ 16x+y}{2} = 8x+\frac{y}{2} $ You are correct unless you have not understood and copied the question correctly
