    Hey guys im having problems figuring out a clear solution to answering these types of questions without putting in one of the answers in place of t and working them all out until i reach the correct answer;

    In the following question what is the value of t?

    9(tx16)/5=144

    A/6 B/3 C/9 D/15 E/5

    You should have learned simple algebraic manipulation by now. Otherwise, this problem isn't very fair. Using the basic principle of "do the same thing to both sides..."

    Divide by 9, leaving (tx16)/5=16
    Multiply by 5, leaving t * 16 = 5*16
    Divide by 16, leaving t = 5
    Check in the ORIGINAL Equation.
