Thread: help regarding VAT..

Find the purchase price of
a) an electric fan marked Rs 1500 plus VAT of 12.5%
b) a ticket for a concert costing Rs 2650 plus VAT at 4%
c) sweets costing Rs 150 plus VAT at 4%.

If anyone could plz solve any one of the above for me then i would get the idea of how to work out the rest two....just any one that u like!

1500 * 1.125
2650 * 1.04
150 * 1.04

If these truly are difficult for you, please go have a chat with your academic advisor. You may be in the wrong class - or something.

well hey..i understand what u did above.... but its not adding tax on the price...VAT is a totally different concept..& now i feel u need to be advised by someone...

What TKHunny has done is correct. The only time when VAT and Tax are different from each other is when there are multiple buyers and sellers involved.
