simplify..need help
f(x)= (-2x^2 +2)/(x^2 +2x +1)
how does this simplify any further?

factoring the numerator and denominator will tell you if the rational expression simplifies further.

well, I may have made a mistake, but I was able to factor the equation to

$\displaystyle \frac{2(-x^2+1)}{(x+1)^2}$

But that doesn't simplify any further, unless you consider it being factored as being "simplified".

$\displaystyle \frac{-2x^2+2}{x^2+2x+1}$

$\displaystyle \frac{-2(x^2-1)}{(x+1)^2}$

$\displaystyle \frac{-2(x+1)(x-1)}{(x+1)^2}$

$\displaystyle \frac{-2(x-1)}{x+1}$
