    distance problem

    cindy and dave left the dock to canoe downstream. fifteen minutes later tammy left by motor boat with the supplies . since the motor boat travelled twice as fast as the canoe,it caught up with the canoe 3km from the dock. what was the speed of the motorboat

    Use the usual formula: speed = distance / time

    c = canoe speed; then boat speed = 2c
    t = time by canoe; then t - 1/4 = time by boat
    And distance by both = 3
