    polynomial solutions

    Why is there no closed formula for polynomials of degree 5 or higher?

    I will assume that you are not taking elementary algebra, and made a simple mistake placing this question in the wrong forum. If so, look up the Abel-Ruffini theorem. Should answer your question.

    There is no simple answer. Learn Galois Theory to find out.
