if y is directly propotional to the square of x then

y=kx^2 where k is a constant

What do you mean by constant.

4. A constant is a fixed number. Like 2, or -56, or $\pi$. In this case, the expression $y=kx^2$ where $k$ is constant, it is asking you to consider only one value for $k$ for all values of $x$.

5. Ok, I got that before... sorry I should have updated the thread.
