    slope of the line

    Can you assist me in finding the slope of the line that passes through the points (-3, -6) and (1, 6)?

    slope of a line is given by rise over run or (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

    In this case: 6 - (- 6) / 1 - (- 3)

    12 / 4 = ......

    Watch your brackets, Joel (no I have nothing against you, but brackets are important) :

    In this case: [6 - (- 6)] / [1 - (- 3)]
