the line L makes an angle of 21.8 degrees with the x-axis(L is increasing from Left to Right)
(a)find the gradient of L ??
(b)if point(1,1) is on L find equation of L??
so little information I dont know where to start please help
From what I can gather:
The gradient is, by definition equal to change in y over change in x:
$\displaystyle m = \frac{\Delta y}{\Delta x}$
As the x and the y axis are perpendicular this will form a right-angled triangle with L as the hypotenuse. Since the ratio of m does not change trig can be applied and so in this case
$\displaystyle tan(x) = \frac{opp}{adj} = m$
Therefore $\displaystyle m = tan(21.8)$ which should be about 0.4
