the number that multiplies a variable. Coefficient

    the number zero 0???

terms with identical variables Like terms

an equation with one or more variables Polynomial

a mathematical sentence with an equal sign Equation

    the number one 1?

    or root.

a term that has no variable. Constant (term)

the number that multiplies a variable. Coefficient

    the number zero 0???

ambiguous, are xy and xy^2 like terms?

an equation with one or more variables Polynomial
is: sqrt(x+y)=0 a polynomial? Polynomial may be the intended answer, but more context is required to make it so.

a mathematical sentence with an equal sign Equation

    the number one 1?

a mathematical sentence with < or > Inequation or Inequality

Well... judging from all the other definitions asked, I don't think they're after things that're too fancy like... xy^2 and xy... and square roots... :-)

But I understand where you're trying to get at! :-)
