Simultaneous Equations help
Hi,

I don't understand how to work this sum out, a step-by-step explanation would be much appreciated.

Find the value of m for which the following simultaneous equations have no solutions.

$(m+2)x+my=12$
$(m-1)x+(m-2)y=7$

Thanks,

If you solve these equations simultaneously you should get:

$x=\frac{5m-24}{m-4}$ and $y=\frac{26-5m}{m-4}$

So now you can see that there will be no solutions when $m=4$ as when m is this value x and y will be undefined.
