    Simultaneous Linear Equation

    Hi having trouble with this equation:

    7x=18+3y
    2x+5y=11
    I have tried using the subsitution and elimatnation method but still cannot get the correct asnwer to what the book has.
    which is
    x=3
    y=1

    Hope someone can help me.

    Did you try rearranging it into:

    2x+5y=11
    7x-3y=18

    ?

    Use the equations I gave you in my last post, put them in a 2x3 matrix:

    2 5 3
    7 -3 18

    Row-reduce it and you will end up with:

    1 0 3
    0 1 1

    Which means x=3 and y=1.
