# Math Help - Help with Foil Method

1. ## Help with Foil Method

(A-1)(C-1)(D-1)

For the life of me, I can't remember how to do this! I think I'm good with the first two by using the FOIL method, but I blank out with what to do with (D-1).

(AC-A-C+1)(D-1) = ??

I know it's easy, but I'm having no luck with my searches for the way to solve this problem.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

You did the first part right, which is good. Remember, you can only use the FOIL method for binomials. That means you have to use the distributive property to finish off the rest of the problem:

$(AC-A-C+1)(D-1)$

So distribute the term $(D-1)$ to all the terms in the trinomial.

If you're stuck, look below at the spoiler:

Spoiler:
$AC(D-1) - A(D-1) - C(D-1) + 1(D-1)$

$ACD - AC - AD + A -CD + C + D -1$

3. ## Many thanks!

I can't thank you enough, Cursed, for your help! I did have to look at the spolier, which makes complete sense to me now! Thanks again for taking time to help out!
