# Math Help - Inequality Word Problem

1. ## Inequality Word Problem

Here's the question:

Carline has 750$in the bank. Every week, she takes out at least$20.

A. Make an inequality that shows the amount of money Caroline has in the bank, B, based on the number of weeks, w, that she takes money out.

Her answer is b is less then or equal to 750-20w

I don't get how she got the less then or equal to or the B.

And another inequality problem;
In a problem like 4|3-2x| +1 is less then or equal to 21
how do you know if when you do your solution if it's a or or a compound inequality?

Actually the variables are already stated.
B=bank
w=week

B<=750-20w
The reason why it's <=:
In the problem, she draws at least $20 per week. She could take out more than$20.
Therefore, at a certain time, if she takes out more than $20, what she has in the bank will be, B<750-20w. (750 is the principal amount she has) If she only takes out$20 each time, she'll have, B=750-20w, in the bank.
Hence the inequality, B<=750-20w.
