Factor the following trinomials (sanity check)

2) $\displaystyle 4p^2 - 12pg - 9q^2$ (COMPLETED)

Identify the coefficents, factors and terms and like terms for the following

3) $\displaystyle 26a^2 cd^3$ (COMPLETED)

4) $\displaystyle 6(x-y) + (x+y) -3(x-y)$ (COMPLETED)

Simplify

5) $\displaystyle (t - 5x) - {[(6p^2 - x) - 9 ] - (6t + p^2 - x)}$ (COMPLETED)

6) Subtract $\displaystyle 5 - 3x$ from the sum of $\displaystyle 6s + 5 - 2x$and $\displaystyle 4a^2 - 5x + 2$ (COMPLETED)

Multiply the folliwng expressions and reduce where possible

7) $\displaystyle (-4rs)(-3st^2)(-7rt)$ (COMPLETED)

8) $\displaystyle (3x - 2)(2x^2 + x - 3)$ (COMPLETED)

9) $\displaystyle (cx^3y)^5$ (COMPLETED)

Divide the following expressions

10) $\displaystyle \frac{-12a^5b^4c^8}{18a^5b^2c^5}$ (COMPLETED)

11) $\displaystyle \frac{a^2b^3 - 2a^3b^4 + ab + a^2b^2}{-ab}$

Factor

12) $\displaystyle 18x^2y^2 - 30x^3y^3 + 54x^3y$

13) $\displaystyle xy + x + 3y + 3$ (COMPLETED)

2. well the first one is

$\displaystyle 6t^3 - 8t^2$

$\displaystyle 2t^2(3t-8)$

the next one may not be written correct
do you mean

$\displaystyle 4p^2 - 12pq - 9q^2$

Its actually a positive, sorry

this factors into

$\displaystyle (2p-3q)(2p-3q) \ or \ (2p-3q)^2$
you can use the quadractic formula to find the coefiecents but
this one the hint is the a and c parts are squares.

I will do the rest of them if you want....

5. Id be more than in debt to you if you could help me out with them,

Im really trying my best to get all 100+ questions done, those are just the ones ive had trouble with

6. Identify the coefficents, factors and terms and like terms for the following

recall that

coefficents is a constant the mulitplies to the varable

factors are one or more expressions that are mulitplied to get a product

like terms are... 6(x-y) and -3(x-y) they just have different coeficents

expressions are Symbols that represent numbers or operations. A way of writing something that uses numbers and symbols.

7. ## simplify

$\displaystyle (t - 5x) - [(6p^2 - x) - 9 ] - (6t + p^2 - x)$

first expand the brackets

$\displaystyle t - 5x - 6p^2 + x + 9 - 6t - p^2 + x$

combine like terms

$\displaystyle -7p^2 - 3x - 5t + 9$

other possiblities too...

8. 6) Subtract from the sum of and

$\displaystyle 6s + 5 - 2x + 4a^2 - 5x + 2 - 5 + 3x$

combine like terms

$\displaystyle 6s -4x + 4a^2 + 2$

9. 7)

$\displaystyle -84r^2s^2t^3$

10. $\displaystyle (3x - 2)(2x^2 + x - 3)$

$\displaystyle 2x^2(3x-2) + x(3x - 2) -3(3x -2)$

$\displaystyle 6x^3-4x^2+3x^2-2x-9x^2+6$

$\displaystyle 6x^3-10x^2-2x+6$

11. $\displaystyle \frac{-2b^2c^3}{3}$

12. $\displaystyle = \ \frac{(ab)(ab^2-2a^2b^3+1+ab)}{-ab}$

$\displaystyle = \ -(ab^2-2a^2b^3+1+ab)$

$\displaystyle 6x^2y(3y-5xy^2+9x)$
