    Solve,Simplify Signed

    Please help. I cant figure out the first step, where to begin on these problems.

    4 * ( -9 ) - -25 =

    r - 60 = -38

    10 - ( -78 )

    42 = 7t - 42

    4 * ( -9 ) - -25 =

    r - 60 = -38

    10 - ( -78 )

    42 = 7t - 42
    4(-9) + 25 = -36 + 25 = -11

    r - 60 + 60 = -38 + 60 --> r = 22

    10 + 78 = 88

    42 + 42 = 7t - 42 + 42 --> 84 = 7t; Divide both sides by 7 ; t = 12

    Thanks.

    4 * ( -9 ) - -25 =

    36 - 25 = 11

    So where exactly did the 36 come from?
    was that from 4 * 9?
    That must be it.

    So where exactly did the 36 come from?
    4*(-9) = -36

    Then, -36 - (-25) = -36 + 25 = -11, not positive 11.
