|1+(1/x)|<2 I know that the range of x is greater than 1 but less than 0 but can't figure out how to prove it mathematically.

Hi, are you sure that it is not less equal two? I guess it should be a $\displaystyle \leq$ instead of a $\displaystyle <$ I guess you should use the triangle inequality for the right path
transform into an equivlent double inequality and solve $\displaystyle -2\ <\ 1 + \frac{1}{x} \ < 2$ $\displaystyle - \frac{1}{3} \ > \ x \ > 1$
