    So we have $\displaystyle y = -12x^2-4x+1
    $
    The $\displaystyle x$-intercept happens when $\displaystyle y = 0$, so let
    $\displaystyle -12x^2-4x+1 = 0
    $ and then solve for $\displaystyle x$.

    The y-intercept happens when $\displaystyle x = 0$, so we let
    $\displaystyle -12(0)^2-4(0)+1 = y$, and then we have $\displaystyle y$. Do the same to second.
