    percent word problem

    In a high school the number of girls makes up 20% of all the students. How many girls are there if there are 800 boys in the school ?

    20% girls implies 80% boys therefore

    Making x the total number of students

    80\% \times x = 800

    0.8 \times x = 800

    Gives x = 1000, how many are girls?
